Pakistan Army is playing major role in development of Balochistan and providing all facilities to the local people of Balochistan like health, education, job opportunities, technical training, and skill development, poverty eradication, maintaining law and order, striving for peace and prosperity, creating an encouraging working environment. For providing job opportunity ISSB centre has been established in Quetta; special relaxation of 5% marks extra marks has given to candidates of Balochistan province as compared to other provinces. Criteria is 8th class instead of Matric in all services expect technical arms, height 5’-4” instead of 5’-6” and chest 74-79cm instead of 78-83cm, age 26 instead of 23 years, FA/FSA grade ‘D’ instead of grade ‘C’ for enrollment as a clerk.
These all compensations offered to Balochistan by Pakistan Army for development of that province; and provide job opportunities to more population. Pakistan Army also play key role to trounce illiteracy rate in Balochistan, for that purpose 110 school have been renovated by Army in Balochistan, more than 1600 students are getting education in Army school and colleges, 6,167 Balochistan students are being educated in 16 FG schools and colleges. Chamalang Beneficiaries Educational Program is also a major achievement by Pakistan Army. 100% free education is being provided to 1496 students by FC in FC Public schools and colleges. Pakistan Army running so many educational institutions in Balochistan. Hostel for 100 students from Marri and Luni tribes has been established at Quetta, with free boarding, accommodation, and medical facility along with monthly stipend of Rs 500. An average, Rs 6,500 is being spent on each student per month. Pakistan Army had established various technical institutes in Balochistan in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC). Army school of technicians (AST) is imparting skill development training since 2006 for un-employed youth of Balochistan province, 1,013 Balochistan students have been given technical training through Balochistan Institute of Technical Education (BITE) and Army School of Technicians (AST), there are also some incentives provided by BITE e.g. No admission fee, stipend of Rs 2000 per month, job opportunities with other especial facilities. Pakistan Army provided technical skills to both male and females of Balochistan province. Males got skills like carpenters, welders, home appliance mechanic, driver, auto car mechanic, and female getting skill in beautician courses, dress designing, computer operator courses. Starting skill development program for women of Balochistan province is big effort by Pakistan Army because women in our society is treated with discrimination and in Balochistan, mostly women are not allowed to get education while Pakistan Army by providing them skills, encouraged other women of that province and provide them equal opportunities like mans.
Pakistan Army did put all its efforts enhance educational level in Balochistan, on the order of Army Chief, Pakistan Army also did arrange of so many personality building and grooming program at hostels; students also participated in extracurricular activities at hostels. Chamalang coal mine was a reason of confrontation between two tribes, Pashtoon Luni and Baloch Marri, they started bloody war over it, the head of Luni tribe Sardar Asmat Ullah made request to government seeking role of military as a mediator for final resolution of this conflict; Pakistan Army intervened and end this bloody conflict and both sides reached a peace agreement on December 2006. Both tribes are getting their shares to avoid further conflicts. Mining of coal started a Baloch people has got opportunity of employment here, 71,586 individuals have been provided job opportunities, 2000 Marri tribesman have been employed as guards.
Pakistan Army launched educational program to educated children of these tribes. 4 water supply schemes have been completed in Balochistan and for Chamalang, Pakistan Army established telephone link and Army has developed 76 km road to minefield to market. 4 labor colonies had constructed, electricity has been provided, and construction of landing strip is in progress. Pakistan Army also providing health facilities of local peoples of Balochistan, Pakistan Army has established free medical camps. Medical relief was also provided in disasters of Balochistan including earthquake and flash floods; in case of emergency Balochistan people are being treated in working hours also. This province was backward as compared to other provinces of Pakistan but due to struggle of Pakistan Army so many development projects started in Balochistan, some have been completed are some are still in under progress, after the contribution of Pakistan Army, now Balochistan is much developed as compared to previous years.
